This is not only ugly but also very annoying on the eyes.įortunately there is 1 rendering Resolution (480*320 and any even multiple of it) that intersects with both the tilespace ratio of 15 by 10 and tile Resolution of 32*32 resulting in pixel-perfect Output / Scaling and in return negating the shimmering effect and displaying the games Assets correctly resulting in what can be perceived as noticeably sharper/ improved overall visuals, as can be seen in this comparison:īefore/After (ignore the fact that the colors are different than in the Original Steam release, its from a personal Project im working on)įor whichever reason Square decided to include *none* of these resolutions as an option into their Launcher forcing everyone to play the game with what are essentially downgraded visuals for no reason whatsoever. This upscaling is static on the x and y axis which results in an unpleasant blurring effect while the image is in motion that is usually perceived as “wobbling” or “shimmering” effect when moving. The game scales the Pixels unevenly (by doubling certain Pixel Rows and columns *almost* arbitrarily to get to the desired resolution), which results in incorrect Pixel output and therefore distorted visuals. Without going into unnecessary Detail this results in 2 major Issues. Amongst the many other issues with the Steam Release of Final Fantasy 6, on Big problem is that the games output resolutions are not in synch with the games Tilespace of 15 by 10 and and the games Tile Resolution of 32*32.
